Wedding Album

I just finished designing this album page for Tatum and Trevor. They had their reception at the Sunset Ballroom in South Burlington, Vermont. The photos were taken using my "magic" 77mm Pentax lens. I love this lens for dark rooms. No flash needed! I love the lighting quality and the colors! Of course, Tatum and Trevor's expressions are priceless!! The album will be printed in Italy by Graphistudio!  ...

Wedding Candids

March weddings in Vermont can be interesting, to say the least. Often times we are forced inside due to the snow. These indoor photos were taken at Tiffany and Shawn's wedding last Saturday at the Ponds at Bolton Valley Resort. The weather outside was frightful, but indoors by the fire was delightful! These are all natural light images taken with a Pentax 77mm lens. This lens has such beautiful optics that most other lenses lack. The color is so nice and rich, without being over saturated. No flash was used as...

First Dance

Your first dance as husband and wife! What a classic emotional event in your wedding. As a photographer, I love this moment in a wedding as it is real. The emotions in the room are incredible to capture. Laughter, tears, and memories of past weddings, just to name a few. But I am writing this note, with a bit of advice. Recently I was in a discussion with a bridal coordinator about the first dance, and whether it would be before the dinner, of after. This is my take, photographically, you...

Let it snow!

Danielle and Eric are getting married this June. Here are a few cold rain and snow photos from their engagement sitting. I left my Nikon camera safely inside, and went out with my Pentax K-5 and my favorite 77mm lens. Both the camera and lens are weather sealed, and able to take a fair amount of outdoor weather punishment. ...

Baby Cameron

Curt and Kristin had a little bundle of joy and they named him Cameron. Here are a few priceless images of him in his first month. These are taken using natural window light in my studio using my favorite 77mm Pentax lens. I also had the honor of photographing Curt and Kristin's wedding in 2008! ...

What is best for a wedding?

A client recently asked me what my favorite lens is to use at a wedding. That is not an easy answer, as each has its own strengths. So here are a few thoughts about the 8 lenses that I use often. Each is mounted to a camera, so it is very easy to have the perfect lens for the perfect moment. -Pentax 77 this is my natural light lens of choice. Amazing sharpness and low light capabilities! This limited edition lens has "magical" qualities and has achieved cult status. -Pentax...

Little Wedding Details

Here are a few close-ups from Charlie and Kelly's wedding on December 25th. We always try to capture the important little details that highlight a bride and grooms day. Small things like this are often forgotten, but the photos help keep that memory alive!  These are taken using natural light. Wendy and I used a Pentax 77mm lens, and also a Pentax 100mm lens. These two "magic" lenses, offer the best natural light rendition, and optical quality on the planet! The wedding took place at the Essex Resort...

Christmas Wedding in Vermont

Charlie and Kelly got married yesterday, on Christmas, at The Essex Spa and Resort. Here are two candid and one posed images from their special day. The dancing photo was taken using my "magic" 77mm Pentax lens. The closeup was taken using Wendy's 100mm Pentax lens. Those two images were taken using natural light. The posed image was taken using a Nikon camera and Sigma lens, along with a small burst of flash. ...

Vermont Wedding Dance

Here is a collage from Amy and Stephen's wedding album. It shows 3 photos taken with natural light. The lighting came from the DJs lights, and the one candle that the bride is holding. It takes 4 very important things to pull of a photo like this; A very steady hand, an image stabilized lens, a camera with fantastic low light capabilities, and a lens with great low light abilities. I used a Pentax K-5 and my "magic" 77mm lens. The Pentax K-5 has won numerous awards as...

Wedding Gown

One of the first images I always like to get at a wedding is the gown hanging. It seems to be waiting, expectant, and somehow emulates a brides dreams on her wedding day. Only when she dons the gown, does she really become "the bride". Then the magic begins...

Reception candids

Here are a few photos showing Vicky and Chris during their wedding reception. I did not want to use flash as that would ruin the mood, and the beautiful lighting. I used my 77mm Pentax lens of course. Quite possibly the best and sharpest lens on the planet for low light situations like this. I just love the lighting quality and the amazing sharpness of these images!! An image stabilized camera body helped achieve maximum sharpness. ...

Natural light wedding photo

This photo was taken using my magical 77mm lens. I sat down on the floor and focused on the brides bouquet. The 77mm lens has such a great soft quality, and I knew that the bride and groom would go very soft in the background. Using a camera with a built in image stabilzer helped as it was very dark. Illumination came just from the few candles on their sweet-heart table. I also gave this image an Antique look in LightRoom. This photo from Andrea and John's wedding,...

Amy and Stephen

Lucky 13 was the date when Amy and Stephen got married at the Georgia Plains Baptist Church. The church had a soft quality of light. Both of these photos were taken using natural light only. Flash would have ruined the mood! I used an image stabilzed lens to help achieve these natural light images. October 13, 2012 was the actual date! Follow this link to see the photos Amy and Stephen ...

Modeling portfolio

Here are some images of Jacinda, who has come in to me a few times working on her modeling portfolio. These images were taken at a few choice spots in downtown Burlington. I used natural light and a reflector, and of course my magic Pentax 77mm lens....
