What a glorious day I had with Carla and Kyle, and of course their son Eli! The light was perfect, and the grounds at the Lilac Inn in Brandon, Vermont are always amazing! I have done a handful of weddings there over the years, and it is always a pleasure to walk the grounds. Everywhere you look there are hidden gardens and paths to wander.
I am obsessed with the image quality from this wedding. So vibrant! Love the soft dreamy backgrounds! I did most of the wedding with a 135mm lens mounted on a tripod, and used a 50mm for my second camera. I like to use a tripod for rock solid perfect images.(more…)
I have! I bought this amazing new lens that has transformed my photography. Namely my Sigma 135mm Art lens. The light I am seeing is the amazing skin tones and sharpness that this lens offers. No more zooms for me. For weddings and portraits, it is now my go to optic. I also have the equally amazing Sigma 50mm Art lens. The combination is stunning. Better then any zoom, in all ways! But they say the eye is in the beholder, so behold some of these taken in the last month or so:(more…)
Had a blast, and tried some new glass! This was the first wedding that I left my normal zoom lens at home. Instead I used a 135 prime lens for most of my portraits and dance shots. No zoom, but way better then ALL zoom lenses! The optics are insane, and it is awesome in dark rooms.(more…)
Congratulations to Katelyn and John, and baby Julian too! It was my first wedding at The Inn At Grace Farm in Jericho, Vermont! What a great venue! There is a beautiful view, and an amazing new wedding barn. However, mother nature was not kind to us. It started sunny, then it rained, and then the sun came out to end the day. The rain put us behind schedule, and the ceremony started about 30 minutes late. Plus, with the rain, we did not get to do any of the before the ceremony photos we had planned, so I had to go into over-drive to crank through the formal photos. Of course the food was ready, and the guests were hungry. But I am happy with results, even though I did not have the time I would normally like. Plan-B we will call it. Some weddings everything goes as planned, then other weddings, you have to adjust. So I adjusted! Mike Detch from TopHat Entertainment helped keep things on time, and had the dance-floor cranking! Rick’s Vermont Kitchen supplied the eats! I must say the food was fantastic!(more…)
